Training

When a school chooses to purchase Perspective, Angel Solutions provides a consultative support programme to help the school make the most of the software, unique to its own context. All our training and consultative services are delivered by accredited educationalists who have a wealth of management experience in schools and children's centres.

We know that all schools are different, and the needs and requirements of one school purchasing Perspective will be vastly different to another. As such, we have developed our Pathway to Success programme which creates a bespoke path, agreed with leaders in the school, of the entry points that will be made into the software. Each step along the pathway is supported by one of our experienced and accredited consultants.

This implementation can and has taken many shapes. A lot of schools tend to begin using Perspective by focussing on the senior leadership team, collaborating on the self evaluation process, supported face to face by one of our consultants who will guide use of the software as well as provide challenge and thought into the processes the school chooses to adopt ongoing. Other schools focus initially on planning, either at a whole school, or at a departmental level, and support is provided here as appropriate, working alongside the members of staff that will provide the vanguard into using the software.

Primary schools and Children's Centres generally cluster together to receive two initial half days of support, one covering self evaluation, one covering planning. Secondary schools receive an initial two days of time from our consultancy team. Some of this time is spent initially getting to know the school, the key players, the needs and requirements of the school, and then agreeing what support should be provided. This forms the basis of the implementation plan the schools and the consultant will work together to achieve. We also spend some time behind the scenes setting up all the elements within Perspective which make it bespoke to the organisation which is going to use it; the language, the team structure, the people.

Some examples of how the pathway to success has developed for some of our schools and centres, all supported by our team of consultants, are listed below:

  • Importing the current SEF into Perspective in order to review it using the BSQs and Guidance and keep the SEF up to date.
  • Importing the existing development/improvement plan into Perspective and monitoring ongoing progress through the system.
  • Populating the Document Pool within Perspective with all the files which immediately have relevance to Self Evaluation and Planning, and establishing a management structure that suits the school.
  • Identification of a Perspective Champion within school who will have the responsibility for maintaining the system, issuing surveys, and administrating users and data, and one to one training.
  • Undertaking a cyclical review of all of the SEF sections over a one year/18 month period to 'fit' the SIP attention focus.
  • In-depth SEF Section Review with analysis of BSQs through Perspective and printouts in INSET/staff meetings/governor meetings, followed by rewrite and adjustments of the SDP in light of Perspective professional guidance
  • Cascaded training to middle leaders e.g. KS leaders, subject department leaders, on the use of Perspective.
  • Careful review and analysis of all pertinent school, LA and national data to arrive at accurate judgements. Where RAISE may be out of date, robust school and community evidence sourced to prove the case for different actual contexts and performance.

Once the school has taken these first steps along its pathway to success with Perspective, more support is provided as required or desired.
