Senior IT Support Technician

Starting Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid role (remote & Liverpool office as required)

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced and proactive individual to join our IT team at Angel Solutions. You will have the chance to lead critical IT initiatives and support our IT Manager in maintaining the technological backbone of our company.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work both onsite and remotely, so you should live within a commutable distance of Liverpool City Centre.

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a proven track record of managing or supervising IT staff.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Windows Server administration, networking (including VLANs and VPNs), and cloud services (Microsoft Azure).
  • Proficiency in VMWare (ESXi and Vcenter), and experience with firewall configuration and management.

Desirable:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar.
  • Experience with IT security management, including ISO27001 or similar standards.
  • Experience in managing VOIP Phone systems and CRM software.

Education & Qualifications

Degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Day-to-Day Role

  • First point of contact for any IT issues raised via our ticketing system, with options to escalate where needed.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintenance of our systems and infrastructure including daily backup checks and server checks.
  • Troubleshooting issues where needed for remote staff using remote access tools.
  • Maintain internal documentation, including asset lists, help guides, processes and ISO27001 policies.
  • Assist with imaging hardware for new starters.
  • Troubleshoot hardware faults and liaise with suppliers for support.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  1. Leadership & Supervision:
  • Act as the lead technician responsible for overseeing the IT team’s day-to-day operations in the absence of the IT Manager.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to team members, including the IT Support Technician, to foster their growth and development within the team.
  • Take charge of more complex and critical IT issues, ensuring they are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  1. Advanced System Administration:
  • Oversee and manage server infrastructure, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Implement and manage advanced networking solutions, including VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls, to ensure secure and efficient network operations.
  • Maintain and administer Microsoft Azure services, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems.
  1. Project Management:
  • Lead IT projects from conception to completion, including the deployment of new systems, software, and hardware upgrades.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and ensure IT solutions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, timelines, and reports to keep stakeholders informed of progress.
  1. Security & Compliance:
  • Take ownership of IT security protocols, including the implementation and monitoring of antivirus solutions, firewalls, and security updates.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO27001 policies and other relevant standards by regularly reviewing and updating internal documentation and processes.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments, addressing any vulnerabilities that are identified.
  1. Strategic Planning:
  • Work closely with the IT Manager to develop and implement the company’s IT strategy, focusing on innovation, scalability, and security.

Provide input on budgeting and forecasting for IT resources and initiatives, ensuring the IT department remains cost-effective and forward-thinking.
