Figuring out what’s going on with changes to the latest Ofsted Framework usually means reading an awful lot of long, boring documents. We thought we’d be nice and break it down for you with this handy infographic.
No more “Overall Effectiveness” grade. There’s a more granular assessment, taking into account context and showing clear areas for improvement.
Now decoupled from the ‘leadership’ evaluation area, Safeguarding is reported as “Met” or “Not Met” in its own core evaluation area.
New inclusion area with a focus on disadvantaged pupils, SEND and those known to social care. Inclusion is also embedded across all other areas.
In a move away from “best-fit”, a grade should only be awarded when all standards are met.

Inspections will end earlier in the day, schools can nominate a non-compulsory inspection liaison, and Ofsted can pause inspections if needed.
One more inspector added to school inspection teams to ease school workload, and a shift away from “deep dives” to a more flexible, context-driven approach.

The time to align your SEF, SIP and governance monitoring to the new EIF. Are your monitoring & evaluation systems fair, reliable & focused on driving ongoing development?
School inspections resume, but Ofsted will prioritise volunteers for full inspections. Normal schedule will resume around December 1st (Depending on volunteer numbers).
