Power Up Permissions – Discover What’s New in Broadcast!

In our latest release, we have launched a major update to Broadcast’s permissions and visibility, giving you precise control over who can see and do what, across teams, files, and collections.

With our new permissions system, Local Authorities can empower teams and users to collaborate, knowing that access is exactly as it should be. Whether it’s sensitive files or collections, visibility is now fully in your hands.

Here’s what you’ve got to look forward to:

Enhanced User Permissions

Take full control with our new Broadcast user status – previously, Broadcast users held either full access and permissions, or it was switched off. Now you can have more refined permissions (e.g., you can now set up a user that can only use the ‘file requests’ module if you wish) and set users as Denied, Standard, or Manager, each with their own access levels.

Managers can now assign sub-module access for LA View, File Requests, Standalone Files, Confidential Files, and Admin.

This means easier oversight, better security, and less clutter for everyone.

Smarter File Request Permissions

You now have more ways to manage who sees what with each File Request.

If you are a Broadcast Administrator, once this update is live, your user status name will change to ‘Broadcast Manager’. You will still be able to do all the things an Administrator can do and will have access to ALL modules and can set the permission status for other users, (e.g., you can set up a user in a safeguarding team to use file requests that will only be visible to members of the safeguarding team if that is what you want them to do): ‘Private’ (just for you)’, ‘Shared with specific teams’, ‘Shared with everyone’.

Standard users can see:

  • Their own private requests
  • Requests shared with their teams
  • Requests shared with all users

Meanwhile, managers can view everything and will always be able to access all file requests, which adds an extra layer of security should any other staff members go on annual leave or leave the organisation—no request slips through the net.

Reasons More Visible and Searchable Drop-downs

We’ve made Broadcast more consistent by ensuring our ‘Rejection Reasons’ are visible everywhere you should see them, and all dropdowns are searchable across Broadcast.
